Peaches Have A Short Season – It’s Time To Make The Most Of It!
It’s summmmmer timmmmme! And that means peeeeaaaach seasonnnn. (Please excuse us. Adding extra letters to words is the best way we know to express just how excited we are for these peach recipes). Peaches are at their peak for only two months during the year – July and August – and we plan to make the most of this short window by enjoying them for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Before we get to just what will be on the menu, here are some peachy basics to help you fall in love with our peach recipes– if you’re not already.
The How To’s of Picking a Perfect Peach
As any primed peach picker knows, it’s the fruit that’s fragrant with flesh that yields a bit when pressed, that’s sweet and juicy. Skip any fruit with cuts or tan spots as it may not be at it’s best. Also, avoid any fruit that’s rock hard or too mushy. Peaches will ripen if left on the counter for a few days. Ripe fruit can be stored for up to three days.
Of course, a perfectly ripe peach is totally delicious on its own. We don’t blame anyone for eating them by the bushel as is. If you’re feeling a bit more creative, however, here are 15 peach recipes (suitable for many diet considerations) to pique your palate.
